Teyonah Parris in the Dark, The Unseen Beast, and the Missing Superhero Name in The Marvels!

Teyonah Parris, star of The Marvels, has disclosed that she was unaware that her character, Monica Rambeau, had a scene with Beast until she watched the film for the first time in the post-credits.

In the stinger, Monica finds her late mother, Maria, by her side when she awakens in a medical lab after becoming imprisoned in an alternate reality after her battle with Dar-Benn.

While Rambeau is ecstatic, Maria—who is actually this world’s binary—does not know who she is. A well-known voice asks, “How is our patient?” as Monica becomes increasingly confused.

A comically accurate, fully computer-generated portrayal of Hank McCoy, aka Beast, then walks into the room.

Parris revealed to ET that she filmed the aforementioned scene with an actor wearing a lab coat, whom she thought would simply be portraying a “regular doctor.”

She also states that although a scene in which Monica selects her superhero name was filmed, it was not included in the finished version of the film. In case it is not formally “MCU canon,” Parris does not clarify here, but we assume it is Photon.

The Marvel movie received mixed reviews upon its November 2023 release from both reviewers and fans.

It was the third Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie of 2023, coming out after Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3.

Following Captain Marvel (2019), the superhero movie reunited a grown-up Monica Rambeau with Carol Danvers.

Even Kamala Khan, played by Iman Vellani, joins the force to battle Dar-Benn, a new space villain played by Zawe Ashton. The Marvels fell short of the audience’s expectations in spite of everything.

The Marvels’ Biggest Surprise

Monica is propelled into a different universe in the post-credit scene of Marvel. She meets her mom, Maria Rambeau, at the hospital. Suddenly, the X-Men character Beast talks to Monica.

The scene left the audience stunned.

The MCU has not revealed Monica Rambeau’s superhero identity despite her many comic book personas, leaving open story possibilities for additional films.

Since then, Teyonah Parris, who played Monica Rambeau, has made comments about her character’s lack of an official superhero name, providing more information that only serves to further complicate the situation.

In a later MCU storyline, Monica might finally get a superhero name, drawing from her comic book heritage, as the thrilling finale to The Marvels hinted at multiple future stories in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
