Nicki Minaj’s brother, Jelani Maraj – What happened to him?

Jelani Maraj, Nicki Minaj’s older brother, has been sentenced for predatory sexual assault. Maraj was convicted of predatory sexual assault in November 2017, after being charged with repeatedly raping an 11-year-old girl at his Long Island, New York, home.

During the trial, the victim testified that she was repeatedly assaulted at Maraj’s home over eight months in 2015. He was arrested in December 2015 and released soon after being arraigned on $100,000 bail. Minaj has yet to comment on her brother’s conviction or whether she paid his bail that year.

The 40-year-old was sentenced in a Long Island courtroom. Justice Robert McDonald of the State Supreme Court imposed the sentence.

The girl testified that Maraj called her “his puppet” and threatened to physically attack her if she refused his advances.

The girl, who was 14 years old in 2017, testified in detail about sexual assaults that she claimed occurred as frequently as four times a week and sometimes twice a day, with the majority occurring when Jelani was alone at home with her.

Prosecutors said DNA evidence found in the girl’s pajama pants was linked to Maraj. The girl’s younger brother also testified at the trial, saying he witnessed one assault.

“These are a bunch of lies,” his attorney, David Schwartz, said in an interview. “I can not go into detail right now, but there is a very big reason to lie here. But these are false accusations.”

Jelani Maraj‘s trial ended after three weeks. Miriam Sholder, the deputy communications director for the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office, confirmed that Maraj had been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.

Maraj’s lawyers said during the trial jurors heard testimony from the victim and her 10-year-old brother, who was 8 when he allegedly walked in on Maraj raping his sister in the basement of their home.

According to disturbing details, Maraj allegedly taught the victim how to make anal sex less painful while also blaming the child for the attacks. He allegedly told her she would be taken from her mother if she came forward.

Maraj’s team alleges the victim’s mother and his ex-wife, Jacqueline Robinson, told her daughter to lie to extort millions from Maraj’s famous sister. It was rumored that Minaj would take the stand, but she did not.

Asked for a second chance’

Maraj’s attorney asked for the minimum sentence of 10 years to life and says they plan to appeal the judge’s decision.

Maraj asked for a second chance in court, he said he was suffering from an alcohol problem, and his attorney claims he was suffering from other health issues like hypothermia, gout, and anemia.
