John Cena spills the tea on his most recent role, taking an unexpected turn in his Hollywood career! Despite the doubts about his agency, Cena’s foray into the world of the iconic doll alongside Hollywood heavyweights like Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie turns out to be a big splash.
In an open discussion on “The Howard Stern Show,” Cena divulges the drama behind the scenes, demonstrating that even action heroes have detractors.
Cena argues that sometimes it is best to just go with the flow, even if it means wearing a mermaid tail while defending his choice to seize every opportunity with wit as razor-sharp as his wrestling actions!
Cena’s vibrant appearance as Mermaid Ken alongside Dua Lipa’s Barbie proves that in Hollywood, versatility is key, no matter how unlikely the role may seem, as he gets ready for his next big comedy, “Ricky Stanicky”!
During his appearance on “The Howard Stern Show” this week, the former wrestler-turned-actor talked about the reluctance of his representatives to cast him in the Academy Award-nominated movie with Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrara, and Simu Liu.
“They’re just going on what they know,” Cena said. They come to the realization that “these things are drawn to this thing, this commodity.” ” We should stay in this lane.” But I am not a commodity. “I am a human being, and I believe that every opportunity is an opportunity.”
John Cena says his agency advised him against appearing in 'Barbie' in a small role over concerns of landing future lead roles: 'I’ve always operated under the philosophy of good work gets you another chance.' https://t.co/weCnHK4OE5

Cena claimed that Robbie, who is also a producer, had approached him to do a brief cameo while he was filming “Fast X” in the same studio as the Greta Gerwig-directed movie.
“I read the script of the movie, and I tried my hardest to be in it,” Cena recalled. “Margot said, ‘Let us create you a mermaid.'” You will spend about three hours there. Yes, definitely.”
But, Cena’s agents at the acting agency he was signed to at the time were not as enthusiastic and advised him to reconsider taking the part.
“I understand that this is beneath you, but from an agency standpoint,” he remarked. To their credit, the agency also agreed right away, and I told them to just go ahead and do it; all they could do was provide guidance.
Cena went on, “In the end, they are not making the decision.” “And they advise you to follow the path that genuinely trickles down economics may take you out of these lead lap slots. And I understand all of that.
“I’ve always operated under the philosophy that good work gets you another chance,” he concluded.
