The split between Kim Zolciak-Biermann and Kroy Biermann in May 2023 surprised both stars and fans.
According to sources, it has been confirmed that the former NFL player filed for divorce after more than a decade of marriage. 2011 saw the now-divorced couple tie the knot.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta alumna and Biermann welcomed twins Kaia and Kane in 2013 along with son Kroy “KJ” Jr. in 2011. (For his part, the former athlete also adopted Brielle and Ariana, Zolciak-Biermann’s two daughters from prior relationships.)
While recording their family life for the eight-season television program Do not Be Tardy, which was canceled in 2021, Zolciak-Biermann stated that reality TV would not have an impact on her personal life.
As she stated in October 2017, “Divorce is not an option in my house.” “I would never allow a show to impact my marriage in any way. My marriage is first.”
At the time, the singer of “Tardy for the Party” asserted that other housewives divorced due to the “hype of TV and the publicity” that comes with being in the public eye. It is “easier to get divorced” than to work on a relationship, she continued.
Zolciak-Biermann filed the necessary documents in July 2023 for her divorce from her husband.
Before their divorce made headlines, it was confirmed in February 2023 that the twosome’s mansion was in foreclosure.
Their Manor Golf & Country Club property in Alpharetta, Georgia, was scheduled to be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
A child called the police after an explosive fight between parents
After a violent altercation with Kim Zolciak, Kroy Biermann lost it and became enraged when the police arrived. One of their children had even called 911 for assistance.
TMZ was able to acquire fresh police body camera footage from the November 20 incident, in which Kroy angrily tells officers that his relationship with Kim is over. While the officers attempt to calm Kroy down, he persists in screaming that he has no money and no house.
At one point, Kroy calls Kim a total narcissist and accuses her of making up their drama.
Furious, he keeps shouting that the couple’s life is over and even goes so far as to call Kim a “f***ing other man.” Officers manage to quiet Kroy down and bring him inside so they can continue their conversation.
The initial 911 call came in from one of the couple’s four kids, who reported they believed Kroy had gotten physical with Kim, but neither parent seems to give that claim any validity.
Kim, on the other hand, is going through a pretty rough phase. She is sitting in her Range Rover telling her side of the story, saying Kroy lost it and would not let her leave the house.
She says she began walking down the street in a robe and asking neighbors for help before returning home.
Kim explains that earlier in the day, Kroy had asked her to sit and chat about their pending divorce. According to Kim, Kroy doesn’t want to go forward with it even though he’s the one who filed, and Kim wants it to be finalized.
Kim says she is scared to be around Kroy sometimes and that he is not the man she married. She says this while sobbing.
While they are talking things out, the officers keep the two apart, and as soon as things get heated again, they seem to cool off. Kroy stays behind with the kids while Kim consents to leave the house for the evening.
Why did the couple call it quit?
The couple’s separation date is listed as April 30, 2023, in Biermann’s divorce filing from May 2023. Two months after submitting the initial paperwork, the couple decided to call off their divorce.
The former athlete claimed his marriage was “irretrievably broken” in court documents.
In his court filing, Biermann stated that he was requesting “sole legal and physical custody, both temporary and permanent,” for his four children with the reality star.
While he continues to care for the children, he also asks to be the owner of the former couple’s house.
