Sophie Turner had a tumultuous 2023 due to her highly public split from Joe Jonas, but 2024 is looking up thanks to her merry band of friends!
“2023 was the year of the girlies,” the Game of Thrones actress captioned her year in-review Instagram post.
As she poses with Taylor Swift amid Joe Jonas’ divorce, Sophie Turner declares 2023 the “year of the girlies.”
Sophie Turner relied on her female friendships as she and Joe Jonas filed for divorce.
The “Game of Thrones” star posted a carousel of photos from the past year of her spending time with her female friends, including Taylor Swift, with the caption, “2023 was the year of the girlies.” “The 2024 forecast appears to be fairly consistent.”
Taylor and Sophie have been friends since 2019 (they met on The Graham Norton Show), but Taylor has been there for Sophie during her breakup with their mutual ex, Joe Jonas. She even let Sophie live in her New York City apartment while she dealt with custody issues.
Sophie and Taylor “have always liked and respected each other,” according to an Entertainment Tonight source, and “they are fans of each other and have been friends for a while.” Sophie is unconcerned about Taylor’s relationship with Joe. It was so long ago and far away. Taylor enjoys herself when she is with Sophie, and they had some fun girl time together last night.”
They last publicly hung out in November when Sophie joined Taylor, Gigi Hadid, Selena Gomez, and other celebrities for dinner.
The photos show Turner having fun with her girlfriends all over the world, but the one with Swift was taken in early October at a Kansas City Chiefs game against the Jets.
The “Anti-Hero” singer attended the event alongside Turner, Hugh Jackman, Sabrina Carpenter, Ryan Reynolds, and Blake Lively, making it a star-studded affair.
Swift was accompanied by her brother, Austin, and his girlfriend.
Turner, 27, and the Jonas Brothers member announced their divorce in September after four years of marriage.
Although they stated that their divorce was a “jointed decision,” the split quickly became acrimonious as they battled for custody of their two daughters, Willa and Delphine.
The “Do Revenge” actress demanded the “Waffle House” singer, 34, return their daughters to England, where she claimed they agreed to raise them.
Jonas reacted angrily to his estranged wife’s lawsuit, claiming it violated their “amicable co-parenting arrangement.”
Days later, Jonas and Turner agreed to go to mediation to settle their custody dispute. After three exhausting days of meetings, the couple reached a temporary agreement that would see their children shuttled back and forth throughout the New Year.
While going through a divorce, the “Joan” actress began a new romance with aristocrat Peregrine Pearson.
The new couple was seen kissing in early December, but Turner posted a cryptic breakup song about “falling apart” weeks later, sparking speculation that they had split.
